Hey, this is my first blog-message. Because my story about my background is too long to post it in my profile, I decided to post it in the first message...
Starting in my early childhood, I was fascinated at assambling (ie: dismantle/cannibalize) apparatus and making wooden objects, like a carpenter. This drive 'forced' me to do the technical courses in secondary education.
In secondary education I got fascinated about ICT (especially assambling and programming) which is still a big leisure activity of my (so, if you need a specialised program or website, please contact me! I'm doing it at voluntary base, but still in my spare-time...). So I visited a lot of technical bachelorprogrammes (such as 'interior design', 'architecture', 'ICT', 'bioengineering' and 'mechanical engineering'), in order to make a choice about my follow-up study.
Accidently, it happened that I visited a presentation about Psychology. After I learned that Psychology is more than 'Freud' and 'crazy people' (the prejudice about psychology from many people, and also of my before that day), i got fascinated about brainscanning technologies, which made me decide to subscribe at Maastricht University (UM), at the Faculty of Psychology (nowadays: 'Faculty of Psychology and Neuroscience') which has his own f-MRI-scanner!
Within my study Psychology, I got involved in the faculty-board as studentmember. Because of this involvement, I learned a lot about Problem Based Learning, which is the basic learning approach at UM, and its 'practical problems'.
As an 'almost-psychologist' I got interested in this learning approach and its theory of learning behind it. Because of this, I shifted my bachelorstudy towards the (learning-)cognitions (i.e. information-processing, retention and retreival, motivation, etc.), and wrote my thesis on student-motivation in PBL.
In my last year as bachelor-student, I decided that I wanted to follow a Masterstudy related to education. In my search for the best fitting psychology-Master in this topic, I found the Master-specialisation 'learning science' at the behaverioul-department at the Univeristy of Twente (uT).
After a brief talk with the student-advisor about my wishes (i.e. improving curriculum, especially the PBL-curriculum), she advised me to visit the Master-Program 'Educational Science & Technology' at the same department. After visiting the open day at the faculty, I became really enthousiastic about this program, and especially the specialisation "Curriculum Instruction and Media Applications". And that's way I ended up here, end 'til sofar, I do not regret it...

I will be one of your followers ;-) You can use your weblog not only for your assignments, but also to post information about other extra information that you might find interesting for others. And of course you can use your weblog whenever you want to post thoughts and ideas about "Pedagogies for Flexible Learning supported by Technology"!
